Here’s a great drill that will tighten up your grappling game so that you become less reliant on hand grips to control your opponent and learn more subtle forms of trapping and controlling your opponent. In this drill you start from your knees and grapple in a free form manner including submissions and striking if you wish but throughout the drill you are not allowed to use any form of control that requires the hands to be closed into a grip. It’s a difficult drill that takes a while to get used to but it will vastly improve your overall ground control whether you are doing MMA, wrestling or BJJ.
