In this video we look at an MMA training drill that simulates the classic striker vs grappler match up. In this MMA drill one both students work at equal intensity but they have different roles – one has to control and submit while the other has to continuously strike. You can restrict the drill to groundwork only or you can begin from a standing start. The person striking must strike continuously even if there preference may be to control, this allows opportunities for the person trying to achieve the submission as there are more openings but it also means they are under continuous pressure so that they are learning to deal with an aggressive striking opponent. Everytime there is a submission the two students should change roles.

Done at pace and over rounds of several minutes, this is a great MMA workout that also tightens up all your defence, control and submission capabilities.
